From Beta Backer to Groove 2.0 Believer
My Journey with Groove.cm (Review Updated for 2025)
I bought Groove.cm as a beta backer back in 2020, during the massive COVID-era launch. Like a lot of people, I saw the potential of an all-in-one platform that could replace the endless patchwork of marketing tools I was using—and I was in.
I upgraded without hesitation. I was excited about the idea of building all the websites I wanted, ditching WordPress once and for all. Demo sites on Groove looked blazing fast, and I loved the idea of being able to spin up test sites, sales pages, and domains on demand. (Maybe I have a start/finish problem, but hey, I love experimenting.)
Beyond that, I saw Groove as a way to:
- Create my own product & service sales pages (no more hacking together landing pages).
- Help local business clients I was working with at the time.
- Cut down on my Shopify/BigCommerce costs by moving eCommerce into GrooveSell.
But like any big, ambitious software project, Groove was still in its infancy.
The Early Days—Full of Promise, But Missing Pieces
Let’s be real: The vision was incredible, but the execution had its challenges.
✔️ No transaction fees? That was a huge win.
✔️ Course membership builder? Worked well for what I needed.
✔️ Video hosting? I LOVED it. I still use it today because it removes all the YouTube clutter while letting me host videos with autoplay, loops, and no ads.
But…
❌ The email marketing solution never fully launched (too many free users abused the system).
❌ The eCommerce setup didn’t allow ownership transfers (so I held off on my store).
❌ There were big platform bugs, replatforming issues, and moments where publishing pages just didn’t work.
There were financial struggles, mismanagement, delays.
Then they ended the free lifetime plan.
I couldn’t recommend Groove to people if I wasn’t confident in it myself (and there was not free trial).
And honestly? I stepped away for a while.
Then 2025 Hit—And Everything Changed
At the start of 2025, I heard about Groove’s leadership change.
At first, I was skeptical. After all, I had been through every up and down of this platform.
But something felt different.

And I realized—I never really left.

✔️ And I thought… Maybe I should get back in and dig in.
It wasn’t just Groove’s ups and downs that took me off course. I had changed, too. My priorities shifted, I focused on other things, and I put my own projects on hold.
But Groove is still here.
The same reasons I joined back in 2020 are still valid today—only now, the platform is more stable, more focused, and more aligned with real business owners.
The hardest, most confusing issue for new people who may be considering Groove is navigating all the conflicting opinions and comments.
I've actually been pretty frustrated reading comments that are absolutely false, yet the poster thinks they are giving an accurate point of view...they just haven't taken the time to get caught up and get inside the platform. In all transparency, it's a mess.
It's just something you've got to get your hands dirty in and try for yourself.

Here’s where I stand:
✅ I’m staying in.
✅ I’m building again.
✅ I’m looking ahead.
Groove is my retirement plan.
While I do love my day job, and I’m not in a rush to leave—I can’t ignore the need to build something for myself.
I want to put systems in place now that will keep paying off for the future.
This is why I’m using and sharing Groove again.
